Olympus AU-680, manufactured by the Beckman Coulter Company, This instrument has the potential to detect future health issues in the lives of nearly 42.1% of the Inova Blood Donor Services population.
The American Heart Association says that 34.3% of the population will be affected by heart disease, and the CDC states 7.8% will be effected by diabetes. From these staggering statistics one could logically deduce that nearly 42.1% of the blood donor population could be affected by this testing instrument.
All money raised through the 2010 Charity Hockey Classic will go to benefit Inova Blood Donor Services quest to be the premier blood collection agency in the D.C. metro area and Inova believes that by having this free service available to their blood donors it will make a tremendous difference in the lives those who already give so much.

Remember, without you the blood donor, we can’t be there to help the cancer survivor, the car accident victim or the next generation.
Our mission is to provide a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in the diverse community we serve.
Our goal is to collect at least 95,000 units of blood per year. We rely on the help of our volunteer blood donors, businesses and media partners to help us educate the public and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.
Inova Blood Donor Services supplies lifesaving blood and blood products to over 16 different hospitals and medical centers in the D.C., metro area.
Inova Blood Donor Services has been serving our community for over 35 years.
Inova Blood Donor Services offers convenient hours and locations at four donor centers throughout Northern Virginia. You can also donate at community blood drives held throughout the region 365 days a year.
In order to keep up with the demand Inova must collect over 250 units of blood per day!
